Movie taglines: What do you think?

It has been a long time since I have talked over here at St. Elmo's. Life has been busy. Anywho, a quick chat today...it's funny if you look this movie up on IMBD, they list part of the description as this...

"A Group of friends, just out of college, struggle with adulthood. Their main problem is that they're all self-centered and obnoxious..."

I just don't seem to agree. Yes, they are a group of friends, out of college, struggling with adulthood but I don't think all the cast members can be classified as self-centered and obnoxious. Obnoxious to me is someone who annoys the hell out of you because they think they are so great or they are just in your face. I guess I didn't feel any of the characters were obnoxious. Self centered? Oh yes...Billy is numero uno, then possibly Jules and then Alec. I guess in a sense they all are a bit, although I can't relate that much to Kevin, Leslie or Wendy.

I am also surprised by what they call the "taglines."

"The passion burns deep."
Passion burns deep? Huh, maybe Kevin's passion for Leslie or more obvious, Wendy's passion for Billy.

"The heat this summer is at Saint Elmo's Fire." Hmm...I don't like that they spelled out Saint. For some reason the distinction between St. and Saint is there for me, maybe not for others...I guess I am a bit weird. Just seeing it spelled out reminds me of religion.

"They thought they'd be friends forever, but forever couldn't last." I guess this is a phenomenon that happens everywhere. Not just college, high school, camp...it goes way back. I know I experienced it. You think when you are so close with someone that you will be that way forever. I never though my college roomies and I would be so distant today, it's only been 10 years but I rarely get together with them. Hard to believe when we were in college, we were inseparable. That's one reason I love that Pink song, "Who Knew."

"You can always count on your friends. Don't ever let the fire go out." This is a nice one, I think I like this the best as a synoposis for the movie. Not only relating to the part when Jules locks herself in her apartment and her friends help her out but all throughout. Either Alec trying to help Billy get a job or Leslie and Jules trying to get Wendy over Billy, or Jules trying to introduce Kevin to a girl, insinuating his lack of is due to being gay....it really is the good feeling you get about that movie, friends helping other friends get over tough spots in their life.

What is your favorite tagline for the movie?
